Rock/Pop
Rock music is a type of popular music with a standard sound of vocals, guitar, bass and drums. Usually the guitar is electric the band may also play a keyboard/piano and the sound is characterized by a strong back beat. There are now lots of sub-genres to rock music. The origins of rock music can be traced back to the 1950s and the king of rock 'n' roll, Elvis Presley. However, rock music only really truly caught on fire with the globalization of the Beatles in the mid-1960s.
Pop or popular music contains lots of different genres that are generally marketed by record companies and as such are commercially successful.
