The Doves are Jimi Goodwin, Andy Williams & Jez Williams from Manchester. They started out as dance band ‘Sub Sub’ and subsequently had a top 10 UK hit with ‘Ain’t No Love (ain’t no use)’ in 1993. All three members possess a great deal of musical talent and versatility as well as all being excellent music engineers. This really helps the Doves create such variety in their three piece indie-rock band. Often the Doves change the main vocalist on many of their tracks as well as the different members swapping instruments and roles. Their first album ‘Lost Souls’ was spellbinding and contained many seminal tracks such as ‘Catch the Sun’ and ‘Cedar Room’. Their subsequent albums have been just as good with tracks such as ‘Pounding’ and ‘There goes the Fear’ from ‘The Last Broadcast’ as well as ‘Snowden’ and ‘One of these Days’ from ‘Some Cities’.
