The Coral are Paul Duffy, Bill Ryder-Jones, Nick Power, Ian Skelly, James Skelly and Lee Southall from the Wirral, Merseyside. They met at school and decided to form a band and learn to play instruments. Afterwards the sparks began to fly as the sextet began to jam and create a unique blend of indie music. Rarely has such a cornucopia of sounds and melodies been incorporated into one band’s repertoire. There are elements of the Beatles of course but along come sea shanty pirate songs, psychedelia, folky elements, organ riffs, ska and plain old rock n roll. The changes in tempo and variety of musical instruments used really keeps the listener intrigued and guessing as to what’s going to happen next.
